ladies and gentlemen,i have had a lot of teachers in my school who have given me much help in my study. for their help i will never forget them. but today i am going to talk about a special teacher of mine. this teacher is not a human being and its name is“computer”. it has been teaching me a lot of knowledge and i appreciate it very much. with the development of modern science and technology, computers are widely used in every teritories (1) including education. how can a computer be my teacher? how does a computer teach me? multimedia(多媒体)helps a lot in this aspect in recent years, and computer-based training (cbt) has become a popular educational medium (手段). even before the multimedia come (2) up, many different learning systems appeared, using the components and techniques we now associate with the term “multimedia”. multimedia components, such as graphics (动画) , animations , sound and video, make the learning process easier through visualization. animations can present many complex subjects dynamically, but human teachers can not do this on blackboards. multimedia makes our study more lively and interesting. for example, a cd-rom disk named “encarta encyclopedia” contains 650 mb information including images, graphics, music clips, video clips, animations , texts, hotwords, and database search functions. fields involved includes physical sciences, performance arts, social sciences, politics, military, education and so on. when pressing a button, i can hear american president clinton's speech clip. i may enjoy playing all kinds of musical instruments in the world. i can also see the animation of many physical phenomena. this makes physical concept to be understood deeply (3). the audio features of multimedia can greatly help me learning (4) foreign languages. with its speech output capabilities, i'm no longer dependent on an instructor for proper pronunciation.
how can i interact with a computer? there are many ways, including keyboard, mouse pointer, and touch screen. i often use a keyboard. when i press right keys, i can see and hear whatever i want. information world is at my fingertip. i wish that true speech input-output system would be invented one day. as teachers, computers have a lot of virtues：they are positive, they have good memories and never lose any information stored in them. they have much knowledge in every field. they can let out all kinds of sounds, and can also improve the efficiency of our study. for example, if i want to, i can skip some chapters so that i can study at my own pace. although computers will never take the place of human teachers, they are welcomed by more and more learners. computers will continue to evolve(发展)with the aid of modern technologies. computers are so powerful, helpful and important that everybody needs it, especially in the future! i love my computer teacher!

Technology is power, which is not proportionally distributed among creature. Human beings and other species belong to distinctively varied categories since men grasp the strength of technology. The people with great power, driven by their greedy instinct, can easily build their prosperity upon others species' or other human-beings' suffering and torment. With high-technology, people hunt and kill cetaceans in extremely high efficiency for extra food. Developed countries build polluting factories in Third World countries and earn the profits thousand miles away. They invade small countries for hypocritical reasons just to exploit its natural resources. Science and technology have turned this world into a dog-eat-dog wild jungle. What's worse, we barely feel guilty about the conducted evils because what we have to do is to push buttons and machines are our accomplices.
However, it is humanism that stops us from becoming complete animals. Humanism made us realize the significance of living in a harmonious world and turn our spotlight on building eco-friendly industry. In the past years, we stopped killing animals for nutrition we don't need. We passed laws and regulations to protect the least-advantaged people. Because of humanism, we started to consider human beings and nature as a whole and care more than just ourselves. We filled ourselves with reason, love and compassion. Humanism keeps reminding us the consequence of abusing the immense power of technology and the great responsibility we undertake.
As human, we are deeply conscious of our common humanity. There is no way we can walk away without being tortured by our conscience after we did so many damages on nature or other forms of life. Therefore, we modify our behavior to what we think it's humane. In this way, we gradually achieve the ultimate harmony between human and nature.
In fact, humanism has done much more than just making our conscience clear. It actually saves us from destroying our planet. We all know that we can't upset the balance of nature without a price although sometimes people choose to neglect the consequences and give in to the desire of fortune. Silent Spring, a very famous book written by Rachel Carson, revealed the fact that DDT and such chemical products could be very lethal to creatures like birds, and therefore they caused irreversible damage to our eco-system. The manufacturers knew exactly about the side effects but they chose to conceal the fact for their own interests. Without the humanists like Rachel Carson, we will remain ignorant and eventualy face our own doom desperately.
The role of humanism is absolutely indispensable. It gives us a unique opportunity to be wise and act in ways that elevate us above the animal kingdom. It retains our humanness. It prevents the world from being destroyed because of our destructive instinct. So ladies and gentlemen, let passion fill your sails, but let humanism be your rudder.

I love my parents also; I want them to live a happy life as well.
I want to travel this great country of ours. I want to see the beauty of our country. I want to see the miracles that made this country great! I want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! I have a dream, that one day I can travel and see my country with my family and friends! If that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also.
If I can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then God can take me away. I would be happy, and l would have lived a full and prosperous life.

At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. I was once an active basketball player on my school team. But now, basketball, my best friend, I haven’t touched it for almost two months. Me- time seems to have become a luxury.
Last week, when I heard there was going to be a basketball match between our school and No 1 Middle School, I was so excited that I rushed home and told my parents the news. I asked my father, “ Dad, may I play basketball after school ? The coach says I am the best guard in our school. If I join the school basketball team, we are sure to beat No 1 Middle School this time.” My father showed his dispproval and said, “ Of course you can’t . I’m disappointed at you. Why do you have such a silly idea? Don’t forget to work hard on your schoolwork and piano lessons.” In my parents’ points of view, playing basketball is a waste of time.
As far as I’m concerned, the school assignment to the junior school students is too heavy. To grow into healthy and well-rounded adults, we should be allowed to have more me-time for relaxation. The pressure put on our students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally.
My dear teachers, I hope you can assign less homework so we students can enjoy a period of me-time. My dear parents, would you please not follow me and remind me of study all the time? Please trust me that I will do my best. My dear friends, why not stop for a while from your heavy homework and do anything you like? It’s me-time. When we were 10, again they asked and the answer was policemen, doctors and some other high-principled jobs. But unfortunately, we finally found our dreams unrealistic as we entered a not-so-good high school, did not-so-good school works and went to a not-so-good direction in our life. I guess, many of you have thought about changing your dreams, but finally felt at a loss again. Yep! We’re adults and they are waiting for a serious answer. Well, how about this? WHO THE HELL KNOWS! Dream is only a dream. It’s unnecessary for us to think over our dreams all day long. You know, dreams always change, and this is not the time to make difficult decisions. But what do dreams do? Why do we still have an urgent need of dreams?
Think about it: do you have had a time when you were full of happiness just because you have made an achievement that pushes you a bit to your dream? Do you have had a time when you insist on what you were doing even the tears keep falling from your eyes? That is the power from dreams! May I equate the faith and the dream here? As we all know, aims and dreams are far from each other to some extent but close to each other on the other hand. Just like the parabola and the number line in mathematics. But it is the dream that help us to map out our aim and work out plans one after another in our life. Just like what Howard Schultz, the founder of the Starbuck said, Dreams are like the stars----we never reach them, but like mariners, we chart our course by them. And I believe that if you have a dream and make efforts step by step, some of you may extremely finish the quantitative change on the way to success and reach the qualitative change! I would like to finish my part by a tongue twister: Whether the weather be fine or whether the weather be not. Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot. We'll weather the weather whether we like it or not. Whatever you dreams are and however difficult it is to realize them. As I’m sure all of you know, this campus was once home to Yenching University which was founded by American missionaries. Many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an American architect. Thousands of Americans students and professors have come here to study and teach. We feel a special kinship with you.
I am, however, grateful that this day is different in one important respect from another important occasion 79 years ago. In June of 1919, the first president of Yenching University, John Leighton Stuart, was set to deliver the very first commencement address on these very grounds. At the appointed hour, he appeared, but no students appeared. They were all out leading the May 4th Movement for China’s political and cultural renewal. When I read this, I hoped that when I walked into the auditorium today, someone would be sitting here. And I thank you for being here, very much.
Over the last 100 years, this university has grown to more than 20,000 students. Your graduates are spread throughout China and around the world. You have built the largest university library in all of Asia. Last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study, including half of your math and science majors. And in this anniversary year, more than a million people in China, Asia, and beyond have logged on to your web site. At the dawn of a new century, this university is leading China into the future.
I come here today to talk to you, the next generation of China’s leaders, about the critical importance to your future of building a strong partnership between China and the United States.
The American people deeply admire China for its thousands of years of contributions to culture and religion, to philosophy and the arts, to science and technology. We remember well our strong partnership in World War II. Now we see China at a moment in history when your glorious past is matched by your present sweeping transformation and the even greater promise of your future.
Just three decades ago, China was virtually shut off from the world. Now, China is a member of more than 1,000 international organizations -- enterprises that affect everything from air travel to agricultural development. You have opened your nation to trade and investment on a large scale. Today, 40,000 young Chinese study in the United States, with hundreds of thousands more learning in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
Your social and economic transformation has been even more remarkable, moving from a closed command economic system to a driving, increasingly market-based and driven economy, generating two decades of unprecedented growth, giving people greater freedom to travel within and outside China, to vote in village elections, to own a home, choose a job, attend a better school. As a result you have lifted literally hundreds of millions of people from poverty. Per capita income has more than doubled in the last decade. Most Chinese people are leading lives they could not have imagined just 20 years ago.
Of course, these changes have also brought disruptions in settled patterns of life and work, and have imposed enormous strains on your environment. Once every urban Chinese was guaranteed employment in a state enterprise. Now you must compete in a job market. Once a Chinese worker had only to meet the demands of a central planner in Beijing. Now the global economy means all must match the quality and creativity of the rest of the world. For those who lack the right training and skills and support, this new world can be daunting.
In the short-term, good, hardworking people -- some, at least will find themselves unemployed. And, as all of you can see, there have been enormous environmental and economic and health care costs to the development pattern and the energy use pattern of the last 20 years -- from air pollution to deforestation to acid rain and water shortage.
In the face of these challenges new systems of training and social security will have to be devised, and new environmental policies and technologies will have to be introduced with the goal of growing your economy while improving the environment. Everything I know about the intelligence, the ingenuity, the enterprise of the Chinese people and everything I have heard these last few days in my discussions with President Jiang, Prime Minister Zhu and others give me confidence that you will succeed.

You want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile， even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand， sometimes you’ll have some of the best food ever， but you won’t feel like giving the waiter a tip， even if you do， because he was grumpy.
More and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything.
Forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of Thailand， the friendly pizza delivery boy， the welcoming supermarket vendor， the nice cashier at the bank， …etc.
It is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back， and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view， if we break it down using business sense， a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty.
On top of all that， a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do， so it amazes why no one bothers to do it， it not only makes the person in front of you better， but it also makes you feel better as well， and I’m not making this up， it has been psychologically proven.
Personally， I’d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when I enter a new country， in companies， government agencies， restaurants， hotels， banks， everywhere; and I think it is up to governments to campaign about this， and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports， hospitals， hotels…etc.

International commerce department has more than 600 students in campus, There are about 30 teachers, most of them are master degree, and some of them has professor title.
2 years ago, I come to this school, and chose marketing as my major. I feel great here. Our teachers are always patient and dedicated. They share the commercial knowledge and experience in the class, and offer the opportunities to practice in enterprise.
Yes, our department has set up relationship with many companies. Some of them are the world well-known enterprise. Such as Ikea, Ups, Konca, Maesk, Lenovo, Walmark, and so on.
There are also many profession competitions in our department sponsored by the companies. I take part in the selling competition this years. I've got the final championship.
