I am very excited and feel it's a great honor to stand here to deliver my speech. What i'm going to talk about is “choice in my life”
I can still remember the first time i failed in a singing contest. I immediately ran to my grandma, shedding lots of tears of course! I cried loudly and could hardly utter a word!
Then, badly needed comforting words and touch came from grandma. I gradually regained my sense of pride and a sensible control of my feelings. Yet, head down, I said: "grandma, i have no choice, and i have to give up, right?" "Look at me, my dear!”she said gently. I looked up, straight into her eyes. What i saw was a shining, sweet, and loving stream from the bottom of her heart! Then, there came the gentle voice of hers: "no, no, no…" her head shaking, while eyes smiling. "Why don't you give more attention to the details?" she continued.
No other words were needed any more! I started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, my overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high! Without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, I won!
What do i learn from this experience? never give up lightly! life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! To realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your lifeboat wisely! As a li ling's sportswear commercial goes "everything is possible!" but not without sweat, devotion, and tears sometimes!
Life is a long journey, during which we are surely going to face many challenges, experience lots of failures, and equally, many opportunities are waving to us, while sweet rewards are waiting for us! to transform these opportunities into fruitful results, or turn those challenges and failures into valuable assets, we must learn to seize the good ones and not to retreat lightly in front of difficulties.

It felt like he was looking for a friend more than a romance and I was happy to oblige him. And in that moment he didn"t feel like a superstar, he felt like a human being. We went out a few more times together and then for one reason or another we fell out of touch. Then, the witch hunt began and it seemed like one negative story after the other was coming out about Michael. I felt his pain. I know what it"s like to walk down the street and feel like the whole world has turned against you. I know what it"s like to feel helpleand unable to defend yourself because the roar of the lynch mob is so loud that you are convinced your voice can never be heard.

As time goes slowly, this beautiful but na-iv-e ideal is permanently impressed in my mind, it deeply hide in my heart and become a kind of power urge me forward. And no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our minds, there's always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it.

Today I would like to begin with a story. There was once a physical therapist who traveled all the way from America to Africa to do a census about mountain gorillas. These gorillas are a main attraction to tourists from all over the world; this put them severely under threat of poaching and being put into the zoo. She went there out of curiosity, but what she saw strengthened her determination to devote her whole life to fighting for those beautiful creatures. She witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged we've ever been, where in the very depth of the African rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled their babies.
Yes, that's a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Diana Fossey, who spent most of her lifetime in Rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life.
To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our eco-environment.
Today, we live in a world of prosperity but still threatened by so many new problems. On the one hand, tourism, as one of the most promising industries in the 21st century, provides people with the great opportunity to see everything there is to see and to go any place there is to go. It has become a lifestyle for some people, and has turned out to be the driving force in GDP growth. It has the magic to turn a backward town into a wonderland of prosperity. But on the other hand, many problems can occur - natural scenes aren't natural anymore. Deforestation to heat lodges are devastating Nepal. Oil spills from tourist boats are polluting Antarctica. Tribal people are forsaking their native music and dress to listen to U2 on Walkman and wear Nike and Reeboks.
