I was once an active basketball player on my school team. But now, basketball, my best friend, I haven’t touched it for almost two months. Me- time seems to have become a luxury.

Last week, when I heard there was going to be a basketball match between our school and No 1 Middle School, I was so excited that I rushed home and told my parents the news. I asked my father, “ Dad, may I play basketball after school ? The coach says I am the best guard in our school. If I join the school basketball team, we are sure to beat No 1 Middle School this time.” My father showed his dispproval and said, “ Of course you can’t . I’m disappointed at you. Why do you have such a silly idea? Don’t forget to work hard on your schoolwork and piano lessons.” In my parents’ points of view, playing basketball is a waste of time.

The pressure put on our students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally.

Justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study English well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. I know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts. Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith,under-standing, and care. Justin is the best friend I have ever had, and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. It is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. It is also like a cup of tea. When we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

Overwhelmed by such a trend,Chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.

You want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile， even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand， sometimes you’ll have some of the best food ever， but you won’t feel like giving the waiter a tip， even if you do， because he was grumpy.

More and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything.

Forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of Thailand， the friendly pizza delivery boy， the welcoming supermarket vendor， the nice cashier at the bank， …etc.

It is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back， and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view， if we break it down using business sense， a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty.

On top of all that， a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do， so it amazes why no one bothers to do it， it not only makes the person in front of you better， but it also makes you feel better as well， and I’m not making this up， it has been psychologically proven.

Personally， I’d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when I enter a new country， in companies， government agencies， restaurants， hotels， banks， everywhere; and I think it is up to governments to campaign about this， and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports， hospitals， hotels…etc.

We all know one geometrical concept, the golden section. It's very important in painting, sculpture and architecture, such as the Parthenon in Athens and the Venus de Milo. In nature a little pentagonal flower has its golden section. It looks beautiful.

What about its connection with music? Lets take a look at a straight and tight string. Pluck it, and then halve its length, then pluck it again. The sound we hear is the same note but a higher frequency. The Greek mathematician Pythagoras discovered this law and it developed into the musical scale we know today.

Another example is from the famous composer, Bach. When we listen to his music in “Well-Tempered Clavier”，we find the notes are always getting higher .But amazingly, in the end, it comes back to the initial height. Why is it? That's why Bach was great! It's a very interesting maths problem. We call it a paradox.

These days we learn maths at school. The only purpose is to get a high mark. But I personally think that those with curious and creative minds will open the door to the world of maths. About half year ago, I was invited to judge a debate competition. When I arrived at the competition room, I noticed it was an old and classic topic, so I was expecting those players to give me some new and special ideas. Unfortunately, when the game continued, I found all the viewpoints and examples they used were totally the same as the previous competition. The only fun during the competition was to predict what they would say. As far as I was concerned, they were not making a debate but replaying a video. Obviously, they just spoke for the black mirror.

Debate was born as an area that we use our own thought to defend our opinion. However due to high technology, all these "My opinion is" in the competition are actually "The opinion I have found is". Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 20xx Games.

Secondly, the 20xx Olympics will be a red pageant.Red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. We adore red. On big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of Beijing . Beijing , together with the whole country, is becoming more and more prosperous in the process of modernization. Should the 20xx Olympics be held in Beijing, the whole city will be a sea of red : the red torch,red flags, red flowers, and the radiant faces of millions of joyful people.

Above all, the 20xx Olympics will be a green Olympics. Some 12.5 million trees and over 1 million acres of grass will be planted along the Fourth Ring Road. By then, the city's green area will make up 40% of its total.
