For our students, marks is above everything. Teachers will judge us from our marks. With marks we can be enrolled into junior middle schools. Still with marks we can be graded and be allowed to go abroad for further studies. Our parents will be strict with us with the marks. Our society judge us from marks. However, sometimes we students compare one another with marks directly. We are completely controlled by marks. We like them and we feel sorry for them. But what attitude towards our marks should we take?

Truly, marks functions cannot be underestimated. In terms of test in our study, marks are fair and real. That is the reason why we say "Everyone is equal before marks. "

However, I think marks are the sole standard to judge the success or failure of students in exams. Sometimes, marks more than ten or less than one or two in our exams comparing with others mean not everything. The success or failure in exams will be influenced by experience on the spot and the examinee's health etc. Once in a while one cannot fail in exams. " Success or failure is common sense for military. " I think everyone is familiar with the famous saying. Don't you think such will be the case with our study? In exams, one cannot be " never-defeated general" . Even though one will be very good in everyday study, he cannot succeed in every exam sometimes. As a matter of fact, "high marks" and "ability" are not unified. Some time ago, a new phrase " high marks but poor competence" came into being. Once I happened to meet such a teacher as this .It is said that the teacher just graduated from a far-famed key university. But his teaching result is much less than that of the one who just graduated from a not-well-renowned college. When lecturing, the teacher only repeated what the text-books says, which was very dull so the his students' interest in learning was not aroused. His teaching was short of unity of teaching and learning. At present there is a fact that we know a few brilliant and top college graduates are not qualified for their posts. The reason for it may be lack of the ability to combine knowledge learnt from books with pragmatics in their work. Students of this kind will be successful in every exam but they will be able to use freely their knowledge in their posts. Don't you think it waste training such persons for the country?

To sum up from the above, I can say marks are not absolutely authoritative for some. If we neglect training and developing the students' ability and competence and if we only seek for the high marks, we will be absolutely wrong. We should take an objective attitude towards the marks. Neither should we neglect them nor should we overvalue them like a God.

事实上，“高分”与“能力”往往是不统一的。前段时间，社会上出现了一个新词:“高分低能”。笔者就曾经碰见这样一位教师，据说他毕业于某赫赫有名的重点大学，但从教学效果上讲，却远远逊色于一些非高等学府毕业的老师。其授课只是照本宣读而已，枯燥乏味，缺乏一种教与学之间的协调功能。根本不能引起听课同学的`兴趣，目前不少大中专院校的高材生毕业后不能胜任他们的工作，原因就在于缺少将书本中的知识运用到实际工作中去的能力。这种人，尽管在学校中每每能考出高分，可无法在工作岗位上灵活白如地运用自己所学到的知识。国家培养出这样的“人材”，不也是一种浪费吗?

大家好！很荣幸今天能在这里和大家进行交流学习。说实在，从接到这项任务的那一刻起，我心中一直充满了忐忑不安。毕竟台下在座的有很多老师都是我的前辈，比我的教学经验要丰富的多，还轮不到我这个小辈来大谈教学经验，所以在此我想从备课、课堂教学以及课后落实这三个方面来谈谈我的一些做法和体会。

一、备课

我们都知道一节课能否上的好，很大程度上取决于教师的备课。“台上一分钟，台下十年功”也可算是对教师备课的真实写照。我记得刚工作那年，刚好遇到新课改的第一年，对于教材不熟悉又没有工作经验，所以当时急急忙忙跑到新华书店买了一本教学参考书，把参考书里面的内容一一写在备课本上，书本上密密麻麻的写了很多，在课堂上又急于想把所有内容都交给学生。结果可想而知，学生一开始还会认真记笔记，后来就渐渐不想记了，或者有记没记得随便写点，课堂气氛也变得死气沉沉。于是我及时刹车，静下心来反思，也查阅了相关知识，发现这也是我们新教师的一种通病，备课备了很多，面面俱到，上课的时候总希望把备课的内容全部交给学生，满堂灌，总觉得在课堂上讲的多，学生就能学的多，结果一堂课下来自己讲的累，但学生还是不知道这堂课讲了些什么，讲的过多容易引起学生消化不良。

那么，如何备好一堂课呢？我觉得首先要充分了解教材，学会钻研，只有在教材的探讨上达到一定的深度和广度，把握教材，吃透教材，才能在应用教材实施课堂教学的时候游刃有余、指点有方。而且在上课之前最好自己先试讲一两次，上课的时候尽量做到脱稿。比如我在讲到强调句的时候，可以顺便提到一般疑问句和特殊疑问句的强调句式，并拓展not

until的强调句式以及把强调句和省略句，定语从句联系在一起，所有的这些都脱离书本直接讲出来（包括例句），这样上课的时候与学生眼神交流，心与心交流的机会就多了，自我感觉好，上课可以更好的发挥，学生对老师也产生一种崇拜之情，对老师的话也会很要听了，所以一定程度上也收服了学生。而且我对自己也一再提醒，即使我是刚毕业没几年的新教师，我也要让我的学生感觉我是经验丰富的老教师。

其次，备课要突出重点，比如这堂课主要是学习这个单元的词汇，那么在备完词汇内容后多准备一些习题给学生机会去练习，可以采取填空、造句、选择题，默写等方式让学生去熟悉新的词汇，反反复复操练。其他内容可以不涉及。这也有助于老师在下堂课回顾上一堂的内容是学生马上给出反馈。如果上堂课备的内容既有词汇又有课文内容，学生首先消化不了这么多内容，另外在第二堂课的时候回忆不出来。我记得这次假期补课期间，我们英语组第一天的课时安排学生摸底考试。第二天分析试卷，我前一天备课的内容是试卷上的15道选择题，这15道题目中非谓语动词出现了好几遍，所以我就把备课的重点放在了非谓语动词上，而且非谓语动词是我们高中阶段的重难点部分。碰巧后来的作业中又陆陆续续碰到了好多非谓语动词的练习，那么我就会讲，同学们，还记得在第二堂课上老师讲的非谓语动词啊。学生往往印象深刻，因为那堂课我只讲了一个重点，那就是非谓语动词。所以备课的时候一定要突出重点，而且不用多，一两个就够了。毕竟我们的`学生肠胃不好，吃多了会消化不良，还不如少吃多餐，细嚼慢咽，慢慢消化。

最后是要备学生。我们的学生英语水平普遍不是很好，而且一个老师的两个班级学生之间水平也参差不齐，往往备的课在重点班上还好，而在普通班上学生就接受不了了。所以备课的时候要根据学生实际情况。那么如何了解学生的实际情况呢？可以从学生在课上的表现：课下完成作业的情况中了解。如果你备课的内容在重点班学生都不是很适应，那么在普通班最好就别在用了，否则就是在浪费时间。另外准备的作业也要有弹性。不能两个班每个班一张试卷就可以了。我一般都是好点的班级一张试卷全部做，普通班阅读或者完型先不做。这部分不做的题目我会放在课堂上让普通班学生当堂完成。因为普通班学生基础和自觉性总是比重点班要差。很多学生科恩给你文章都看不懂，一开始可能还会去查字典，但久而久之懒了，就不去查字典而是去问别人抄。所以我宁可让他们在课堂上当堂做完，不会的查字典或者请教老师。

二、课堂教学

首先，上课要精神饱满。其实我们每个老师都会有自己特有的风格和性格，像xxx老师和xxx老师的严谨，xxx老师和xxx老师的幽默，xxx老师和xxx老师的温和，xxx老师和xxx老师的热情等等，他们都能够充分贴切的讲自己的性格融汇到课堂教学中，形成了自己特有的教学风格，而一个有个性、与众不同的老师往往能够吸引学生和带动学生。就我本人而言，我是一个性格比较开朗的人，大学时也学过健美操，所以我习惯将课堂作为一个表演的舞台，只要走进教室，就会显得精神饱满，充满热情，教学各个环节一般都设计的非常紧凑，教学过程中，我会不时的随机点学生回答问题，迫使学生注意力集中。而且听过我课的老师和学生都说我上课的时候肢体语言非常丰富。其实这是一种自然而然地行为。比如说讲到对于刚刚内容的回顾，我会突然书本一合，然后举起我的右手说，来，同学们，现在跟老师一起来回顾一下刚刚我们学过的内容。这也无形当中调动了课堂气氛，激发了学生的学习兴趣。学生毕竟还未成熟，很多学生因为课堂好玩，老师上课有趣才去学这门课。所以说兴趣是最好的老师。

其次，始终坚持扎实课本，背记内容尽量在课堂上完成。我们学生每天要上的课很多，要背记得内容页很多，语文要背，数学公式要背，政史要背，理化生也要背。而英语更是非背不可，英语单词如果不背，单项题目看不懂，阅读完型内容看不懂，作文不会写。所以在所有科目中有其特殊性，背记内容特别多，单词要背，课文要背，天天都有背的任务，如果“背”成为学生害怕和头疼的事，那很难让学生保持对英语的学习热情。因此，我尽量将要背的内容在课堂上完成，在新课完成后，留出一定的时间趁热打铁，让学生背诵。只将少部分的留到课后去背。学生能在短时间内根据板书的提示信息背出当天新学内容时，背诵不仅不会成为负担，相反这种成就感能够激励学生提高上课效率更专注于课堂。

最后适当调节课堂气氛。英语是一门语言科目，不仅要求学生能静得下来，更需要学生能动起来。如果课堂气氛过于严肃，那么当老师需要他们活跃时，学生会显得没有热情配合，设计的活动环节也会显得生硬不自然。所以，我上课时，会偶尔跟学生开开玩笑。我记得有一次，还是我大肚子的时候，那天下午的英语课上，给学生放听力，下午的课，学生有些昏昏欲睡，注意力不是很集中。我放了一遍听力，一篇小对话很简短的，让学生把大概的意思告诉给我听。问了半天居然没人反应，当时真想狠狠的批评他们一顿。忽然，我宝宝在肚子里面踢了我两次。我就借题发挥，我说，同学们啊，你们看，我宝宝都听懂了这篇对话，在肚子里给了我反映，你们难道连个小毛头都不如吗？学生听完哈哈大笑，瞌睡虫也被赶走了。我就说再放一遍，这遍要仔细听了哦。第二遍放好后，基本上学生们都能把大概意思给讲出来了。这个玩笑即间接地起到批评鞭策的作用，又能让学生主动学习。效果肯定要比狠狠批评他们一通要好得多。另外我还很喜欢跟学生就话题内容穿插一些我的大学生活，比如参加各种各样的社团，晚会啊等等，让他们憧憬一下美好的大学生活，然后我会话题一转，说到，要想实现那个美好的大学梦想，想在就要好好学习吧，再苦也是值得的哦。不仅调动了课堂气氛，也起到了一定的教育作用。

三、课后落实。

首先，作业批改要及时有效。老师的作业一定要自己批改，而且在批改作业的时候应该要留意那些错误率高的题目，可以把题号记录下来在第二天的课上着重进行分析。或者也可以把错题进行归类。比如说主要是错在定语从句这块语法上面，那么有可能在课上没有讲透，学生还不理解。下一堂课可以针对这个语法再讲一遍。另外，有时候是课堂上听未必能听懂。那么可以把这些同学单独叫过来面对面帮他们分析，等在课堂上分析的时候他们相当于是听第二遍，那就不至于像听天书一样了。此外在与这些基础差的学生交流中还可以发现他们的薄弱环节，鼓励他们多来问问题，帮助他们树立信心，从而培养学习英语的兴趣。当然老师作业改得及时认真也能杜绝那些抄作业现象。

其次，针对学生的作文，以往我都是把学生的错误句子划出来，第二天的课上把学生普遍犯的错误讲一下，错句修改一下，然后范本抄在黑板上让学生回去去背诵。但渐渐地我发现学生即使这次的范本背会了自己写作文的时候错误还是在出现，而且这些错误都是他们学英语以来一直在犯的老毛病。原来，我们老师辛辛苦苦每篇文章帮他们划出错误，而他们压根就视而不见，这篇文章犯的错误下次照样还会再犯。我就在想，如果学生自己的毛病没有根治，再多的新鲜血液输入进去也是没有用的。治标要治本，所以后来我就要求学生把每次发下去的作文划线部分订正好当天交上来，如果不会订正可以问同学或者向老师请教，至于那些作文分数在及格分以下的肯定错误很多，我则要求他们面批，自己抽时间来找我。这样一来，很多学生如果不会订正就会主动来请教老师，从而真正理解地把自己的错误给纠正过来了，也就避免在考试作文中不必要的失分。

最后，落实背诵和默写。英语学科，即使老师课堂教学再出色，单词课文的背记如果不落实，还是很难出成绩，这一点是我们所有英语老师的共识，也是最辛苦和让人无奈的事。背诵我喜欢亲力亲为。虽然比较累，但学生在背的时候我可以及时帮他纠正发音错误，或者随时抽出几个重点短语句子让他回顾，从而检测学生有没有真正理解着背。另外学生来背诵其实也是一次师生交流互动的机会。比如说有个学生前两天在课堂上睡着了，而当时我又忘记把他叫过来面谈了，趁着他来背书的机会刚好提醒我，背完后也就可以跟他面对面交流了。除了背诵，默写也很重要。我几乎每天都有默写内同，有时候是默写单词，有时候是默写句子，甚至于默写课文。有些学生光会背不会写，这在作文中很吃亏的，所以默写也很重要。默写不过关一般都要求第二天来重默出，从而不影响下次的默写。至于那些基础很差，连单词都不会读的学生，我一般先教他们音标，这在高一可以尝试。我记得我带的第一届，高一一开始就是先教音标，每个人都要过关。因为如果音标会了，单词就会读，而且很多单词是根据读音拼出来的。高二高三就可以省下很多麻烦。

教无定法，但一切要以自己的学生为本，尊重学生的需求，兴趣。量体裁衣，我们播下的种子才会收货。以上是我在英语教学过程中的一些心得体会，相信每位老师都比我做得更好，而且在我的教学过程中还存在很多不足，希望在以后的日子里能在各位领导、老师、前辈的指导下，取得更大的进步！谢谢大家！

What she saw was her dog’s annoying barking while not how much loyalty it had shown.What she saw was always so depressing that it finally turned her into an unpleasant person. Think about how our life would be if we stand in her shoe.

Why don’t we focus our attention on how much we’ve already got in stead? You know it’s really simple to do as there’s a tremendous amount of examples. Like the popular Jetpack Joy Ride on your Iphone, you can enjoy it whenever you like, whereas in some poor area people don’t even know such thing as Iphone.

Actually we should be thankful about the richness we’ve got, thankful that with each sunrise taking place we don’t need to starve to call it a day, thankful that the people we love are still in health, that we still got much to hold on. 65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

When lecturing, the teacher only repeated what the text-books says, which was very dull so the his students’ interest in learning was not aroused. His teaching was short of unity of teaching and learning. At present there is a fact that we know a few brilliant and top college graduates are not qualified for their posts. The reason for it may be lack of the ability to combine knowledge learnt from books with pragmatics in their work. Students of this kind will be successful in every exam but they will be able to use freely their knowledge in their posts. Don’t you think it waste training such persons for the country?

To sum up from the above, I can say marks are not absolutely authoritative for some. If we neglect training and developing the students’ ability and competence and if we only seek for the high marks, we will be absolutely wrong. We should take an objective attitude towards the marks. Neither should we neglect them nor should we overvalue them like a God.

you know, the middle class is not a number. it's a value set. it means being able to own your home; raise your children in a safe neighborhood; send them to a good school where if they do well they can qualify to go to college and if they get accepted you'd be able to find a way to be able to send them to college. and in the meantime, if your parents need help, being able to take care of them, and hope to put aside enough money so that your children will not have to take care of you.

that's the american dream. that's what this country was built on. and that's what we'redetermined8 to restore.

in order to do that, it's time to have a fair tax structure, one that values paychecks as much as unearned income and inherited wealth, to take some of the burden off of the middle class. it's time to close tax loopholes so we can reduce the deficit9, and invest in rebuilding america - our bridges, our ports, our highways, rails, providing good jobs.

with corporate10 profits at near record highs, we should encourage corporations to invest more in research and development and the salaries of their employees. it's time for us to invest in educational opportunity to guarantee that we have the most highly skilledworkforce11 in the world, for 6 out of every 10 jobs in the near term is going to require some education beyond high school. folks, it's long past due to increase the minimum wage that will lift millions of hardworking families out of poverty target poverty and in the process produce a ripple12 effect that boosts wages for the middle class and spurs economic growth for the united states of america. economists13 acknowledge that if we do these and other things, wages will go up and we'll increase the gross domestic product of the united states.

But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.

When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”

But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot.

我们教研组之所以能够和谐，奋进，充满活力和激情，首先得感谢学校领导让我们以教研组为单位在同一个办公室进行集体办公，这使得我们整个教研组各个成员之间得以零距离接触。这样方便大家彼此了解，沟通，而且更有利于大家进行集体备课，交流意见。为教研组的发展搭建了一个很好的平台。

其次，作为教研组长，要尊重每一位老师，因为他们是有血有肉，有思想，有感情的人。要善于发现他们身上的闪光点。每个老师身上都有值得我学习的地方。从他们的身上我学会了工作要敬业，更要专业；做人要热心，大度，开朗。更重要的是不要太计较，心里要有阳光，因为一个人内心出充满阳光，他看到的世界便是阳光的；如果他内心充满黑暗，他看到的世界便是黑暗的。只要我们不太计较个人得失，认同了我们是一个集体，一切都是为了这个集体服务，做起事来便没有什么困难的。让我很感动的是现在高一年级英语备课组，不论有什么任务，他们从不推辞，都是欣然接受。而尤其让我感动的是高三英语组备课组长李杰老师，他总是说“有事你说话，我们全力配合教研组的工作。”在这些老师的感染下，现在的高中英语教研组都有了一个共识。那就是我们是一个集体，是和谐，勤奋的集体。大家都只想将我们组搞的更好。

另外，教研组的建设和发展，其实是老师不断成长和自我提升的过程。需要时间，需要认同与鼓励，也需要激励。让我印象最深的`是当初建博客的事。我只说了一句话：“谁在一个星期内建成了博客，我请他吃早饭。”结果不到一个星期，他们都有了自己的博客。随后便有了很多优秀的博文。是老师们缺那么几块钱的早餐钱吗?不！只是他们的劳动需要认同与肯定。在此我想说，如果学校能多些实质性的鼓励与肯定，我想我们以后的教研氛围会更浓，教学效果会更好的。

还有，我认为教研组的建设与稳定，确实需要一些集体活动。这样的活动会起到粘和剂的作用，将每一个老师紧紧地团结在一起。我们英语组的和谐，奋进与充满激情，都是在这样的活动中得以体现的。

最后我想说的是，网络教研真的是一个很好的平台。在这里，老师之间可以互相探讨和交流。平常没时间，没机会说的话或者教学心得在这个空间里都能得到展现。如果有更多的领导能到这个空间里来和老师交流，沟通，就会发现，其实我们的老师是热爱我们的工作的，是敬业的，也是专业的。只是他们的热情需要进一步的点燃，他们的工作需要认同，肯定与鼓励罢了。

Thousands of their soldiers are invading the country from the sanctuaries. They are encircling the capital of Pnompenh. Coming from these sanctuaries, as you see here, they had moved into Cambodia and are encircling the capital. Cambodia, as a result of this, has sent out a call to the United States, to a number of other nations, for assistance. Because if this enemy effort succeeds, Cambodia would become a vast enemy staging area and a springboard for attacks on South Vietnam along 600 miles of frontier: a refuge where enemy troops could return from combat without fear of retaliation. North Vietnamese men and supplies could then be poured into that country, jeopardizing not only the lives of our own men but the people of South Vietnam as well.

第一、充分利用好英语早自习

在教学实践中，我深深地感觉到利用好英语早自习对学生起到事半功倍的作用。我还记得高一时汪泽海老师曾肯定的告诉我“书读百遍，其义自现。作为语言类学科，英语和语文都要让学生自主的读”。现在想来确实如此，语感的形成，英语的运用都离不开朗读。不仅要读，而且声音要大，李阳疯狂英语中说，大声朗读能刺激大脑神经和口腔肌肉，只有大声的读才能让眼，耳，心，嘴都利用起来，以达到全身心的投入，精力才能集中起来。

有时为了增进对课文或知识点的理解，学生读的同时，我也读。因为学生比我更年轻，声音理当比我的宏亮，所以当我发现个别学生只见其口形不闻其声时，我便开玩笑说他“装斯文，有劲不使”。久而久之，学生养成了大声早读的习惯，当读书声变小时，只要我拿书开始读，他们便条件反射般声音大起来了。

第二、强化词汇、句型、语篇教学

记住英语单词是学好英语的前提条件，在词汇教学方面，我喜欢把重点放在英语词汇的习惯用法、短语固定搭配、惯用句型上，并要求学生熟练掌握构词规律。我主张学生把单词放在句子中去记忆，这样不仅对单词的印象更深刻，而且知道怎么灵活运用新单词。在课文教学方面，强调句型和语篇的有机联系，要求学生以句子为单位，有选择地背一些重要句型，这样既可减轻学生过重的学习负担，又可达到提高书面表达能力的效果。

第三、巧抓阅读，促进写作

阅读既是一种能力，又是语言学习的一种重要方法。从某种意义上说，阅读能力的强弱直接关系到学生高考笔试成绩的高低。我坚持指导课余或课堂上给予部分时间每天做1至2篇阅读题。上课之前或下课前10分钟我会有意识的.带着学生一起阅读《英语辅导报》的彩页阅读版本，这不仅使学生也使我自己更加了解英美国家的文化背景，开阔视野的同时丰富了语言知识，扩大了词汇量。上好阅读课，对学生运用英语常用句型、写好英语短文大有裨益。因此，我常鼓励学生尽量根据上下文猜测词义，使之逐渐提高阅读速度，获得独立阅读的能力，更好地配合课堂教学，巩固教学成果。完形填空、阅读理解、简答题和阅读填空每周坚持交替练习。鼓励学生每天勤查字典，养成充分利用工具书的好习惯。重视学生良好学习习惯、良好答题习惯的养成的培养。

第四、真诚待人，因材施教

我国著名教育家陶行如先生说过：“教育是心心相映的活动，唯独从心里发出来的，才能打到心的深处。”一直以来我都用一颗真诚的心对待学生，在课堂上我会直言不讳，一针见血的大叫某个有小动作的学生的名字，一开始的时候弄得女生面红耳赤，男生颜面丧尽。但是他们都知道了我的性格，我就是一“心是口是”的直人，唯一让他们心服口服的可能就是我能一如既往的一视同仁，在我的眼中无所谓成绩好与差的学生，只要是坐在教室内的学生我都会尽力去帮助他，鼓励他。以前我总希望每个学生都能掌握我教的东西，但现在知道那只能让成绩差的学生学的痛苦，让我教的更痛苦，所以我现在能用平和的心态因材施教。

The problems of ones life are not seen as having resulted from bad luck as much as having come from ones laziness and unwillingness to take responsibility in pursuing a better life.

In the American mind, change is seen as indisputably good, leading to development, improvement, progress. Many older, more traditional cultures consider change disruptive and destructive; they value stability, continuity, tradition, and ancient heritage - none of which are considered very important in the United States.

Time is of utmost importance to most Americans. It is something to be on, kept, filled, saved, used, spent, wasted, lost, gained, planned, given, even killed. Americans are more concerned with getting things accomplished on time than they are with developing interpersonal relations. Their lives seem controlled by the little machines they wear on their wrists, cutting their discussions off abruptly to make their next appointment on time. This philosophy has enabled Americans to be extremely productive, and productivity Is highly valued In their country.

Equality is so cherished in the U.S. that it is seen as having a religious basis. Americans believe that all people are created equal and that all should have an equal opportunity to succeed. This concept of equality is strange to seven-eighths of the world which views status and authority as desirable, even if they happen to be near the bottom of the social order. Since Americans like to treat foreigners "Just like anybody else", newcomers to the U.S. should realize that no insult or personal indignity is intended if they are treated in a less than-deferential manner by waiters in restaurants, clerks in stores and hotels, taxi drivers, and other service personnel.

Americans view themselves as highly individualistic in their thoughts and actions. They resist being thought of as representatives of any homogeneous group. When they do join groups, they believe they are special. Just a little different from other members of the same group. In the U.S. you will find people freely expressing a variety of opinions anywhere and anytime. Yet, in spite of this independence, almost all Americans end up voting for one of their two major political parties. Individualism leads to privacy, which Americans see as desirable. The word privacy does not exist in many non-Western languages. If It does, it is likely to have a negative connotation, suggesting loneliness or forced isolation. It is not uncommon for Americans to say, and almost to believe: "If I dont have half an hour a day to myself, I go stark-raving mad!"

还记得，我刚刚升入初中时，面对新的环境，面对那么多的新的课程和学习内容，我对自己失去了信心，逐渐产生了自卑心理，成绩不断下滑，是老师和妈妈及时帮助我、鼓励我，让我重新找回自信。渐渐的，我的学习成绩及各个方面都有明显进步，逐渐适应了初中的生活。

He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out…

One day the phone rang, and the mother picked it up and said, “Hello?”

It was the girl! The mother started to cry and said, “You don?'t know? He passed away yesterday…”

The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy's mother. Later in the day, the mother went into the boy?'s room because she wanted to remember him. She thought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet.

She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. She was surprised to find all these CDs and she picked one up and sat down on the bed and she started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read it. It said: Hi… I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.

The mother was deeply moved and opened another CD…

Again there was a piece of paper. It said: Hi… I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.

简言之，我认为自信是成功最重要的因素。自信使人勇于冒险，失败了会再接再厉，成功时能享受自己的成就。有了这些能力，有信心的人就能够轻易地在学业或工作上获得成功。
